Very moving, heartbreaking at times - but at least it had a happy ending! The combination of animation and vintage footage worked really well. At times the animation really emphasised the fear and horror of those fleeing.
5
Incredibly thought provoking film. The animation was a very successful way of portraying such a shocking story - more powerful than if it was filmed more traditionally.
5
A life affirming film reminding each of us of the privileges we have. An emotional story well-told through animation & actual footage which corroborated the facts.
5
Brilliant animation. Very clever way to tell a shocking story.

Oh, the relief when his brother accepted he was gay. Great film & should be shown to a wider audience.

A stunning portrayal of immigration from the immigrant's perspective.

I can't imagine a more effective way of telling such a personal nightmare of a story. The use of animation - built over genuine 'interview' conversations, interspersed with historical footage, gave sufficient 'distance' to this story of a real refugee, allowing us to empathise deeply, and develop a visceral understanding of the harsh and harrowing realities faced by a loving, close knit Afghan family. There was no 'gloss' . no stars, no award winning acting, no emotive 'this is how you should be feeling' music or soundtrack. This was low key, flat, understated - and, as a result, so much more powerful and profound.

5
A very original way of tell a moving story.
5
Great graphical presentation. Explained another view of migration.
5
Short film spoke to me so clearly! Main film must surely help defeat prejudice.
5
Just one family's story. Makes you realise the vast extent of the trauma suffered by refugees.
5
Terrific quality animation - uplifting and full of hope, despite its difficult content.
5
A powerful telling of Amin's story; not distracted by actors playing a role.
5
Powerful and impactful depiction of a refugee’s story portrayed in animation. The complexity and inhumanity was portrayed so deftly and the fear and peril were palpable, a great achievement through an animation.

Not sure I understood the short film but it was good looking. Excellent long film, very moving & still fully told through the medium of animation.

Both thought provoking but no solutions offered.

That was hard to watch but very moving.

We should never forget how lucky we are! As a country our treatment of migrants is disgraceful. Good film.
4
The drama & tragedy was made bearable by the beautifully crafted animation. A moving film all the more so, as it was based on a true story - great filming.
4
Gives very good idea what refugees have to endure. Very different. I enjoyed it.

Bit long winded for me!

Strong message.

I wasn't expecting the whole film to be animated. It was well done but I would have preferred humans! I think the story could have been told equally well with people. It was an interesting story and very moving. What lives some people have to face.
4
Very hard watch. Very moving. Not sure if I enjoyed it though, or that I would recommend it as entertainment.
4
Fascinating - made more impact by the manner in which it was portrayed.
4
Great short film. Good juxtaposition with main film. Interesting way to film the main story. Wasn't sure it would work but it did! Moving story.

Illustrative of modern problems with oppressive nationalities. What folk endure for freedoms which we enjoy & take for granted! Good choice.
4
I didn't relate to the cartoon format though it brought home the plight of refugees by focussing on an individual rather than the mass of people.
4
Very thought provoking and something we all need to see & realise the plight of people less fortunate than ourselves and how evil are the traffickers. I like the way the narrative was told but not very enamoured of the style of animation but perhaps it was fitting for the subject matter.

Meant to tug the heart strings - but just seemed to be like another BBC liberal documentary.

Didn't realise it was an animation. Felt it would have held a lot more power if it wasn't a cartoon!

Rather depressing. Did not really enjoy.

I felt it was a bit slow.
