Lovely film, such a feel good movie for a Monday evening. Lovely team at Fleet Film Festival just working hard to give us a great evening- they even provide cushions- which I didn’t realise until the end 😏🤣🤩

A modern Cinderella story, light and frothy. But nevertheless, charming and amusing. 'True possession is proved by giving.'

Lovely, gentle, romantic & nostalgic film, with great performances. Whimsical but with positive message. Wonderful Dior clothers - a glimpse into the world of haute couture.

Lovely clothes & beautiful people but the story too fantastical.
3
I thought it was charming but glib.

The dresses ('frocks') were the best part of this film. Lesley Manville excellent as ever.
3
A feel good film in these sad times but lacking in depth.

Old-fashioned feelgood movie set in mid-50s, could have been made then: "It's a Wonderful Life" remade by Ealing Studios, but none the worse for that. Unexpected choice among Fleet Film's usual arthouse fare. Familiar theme: a Good Person goes about doing Good Things and thereby brings out the best in everybody else. Well written and acted. Almost everyone is a caricature, but solid entertainment nonetheless.
