So sad to see how prejudiced people were towards her. Beauty runs deeper than skin deep!

Beautiful & sad. Fabulous filming.

Beautifully paced and poignant. It was a captivating cameo of love and rejection. Thank you.
5
Different. Made you think how difficult we find it to accept differences today.
5
Much to my surprise I found this film absolutely compelling. Sensitive and beautifully made. A brave choice.

The most wonderful film. Love will also find you. Love conquers hate! This was the true meaning of the film. Just beautiful...
5
A very emotional film. Who decides what is normal.
5
So powerful. Wonderful actors & as always the French understand how to portray sex sensitively.

First time I've watched a subtitled film. It wasn't a problem for me at all. Thought the film was amazing. Thank you so much for showing.

I couldn't help thinking of Kenny Everett - but it was all done in the best possible taste! Seriously, it was remarkable, thought provoking and the acting was splendid as was the soundtrack.
5
Very good, loved the limited sets and the score. Interesting sound design (heavy breathing etc) which was unusual at times. Overall really solid and very few scenes that felt unnecessary.
5
We came thinking we were going to learn about Frida Kahlo! But really enjoyed Rosalie - such a thought provoking film, beautifully shot. Very interesting that it was shot in chronological order.
5
So moving I cried. Heart breaking and heart warming in equal measure. A superb film. Beautiful acting and cinematography.
5
Low expectations but it turned out to be superb. Superb in storyline, characterisation, music and 19th Century Brittany.
5
A very thought provoking and moving film which I will be thinking about for a long time, and will probably try to watch again.

This sums up the joy of watching Fleet Film films. I'd never consider it normally but enchanting. And Einaudi music as well. Superb.

Only those who are different can understand the courage it takes to be that in a world that desires homogeneity. Where would we be if we were all the same?!
5
Fascinating, different, very moving. A woman who just wanted to be loved, to be a wife and mother, but condemned to be a curiosity at best, a freak show at worst. A man shocked, angry, humiliated, but who ultimately learns to love and accept. Vive la difference!

I was looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint. But a strange & sad ending.
4
Excellent introduction and explanation that really helped to explain the film. Very strange but compelling. Thank you.

Power of the mob and the church. He loved her in the end.
4
Very thought provoking & emotionally engaging. You felt deep empathy for the bearded lady. V sad ending.
4
Most thought provoking - how one is expected to conform to what others want.
4
You never know what you are going to get. Traumatic, touching, powerful, frightening and beautiful.
4
Much better than I thought it would be mainly due to the acting of Abel & Rosalie - so natural! A very gentle and sympathetic film.

Very unusual story but very enjoyable and good acting.
4
Extremely moving. Very good acting.
3
A well told story but over long and the scenes and characters appeared somewhat light weight and all in all would not recommend to others as simply not enough going on.
3
A poignant film that prompts reflection on how we, as individuals and as a society, treat those who defy our standards of beauty or normality. Whether set in 19th-century France or today, the theme remains profoundly human. While the pacing felt slow at times, it may speak more to our modern tendency to rush through life, missing the chance to thoughtfully engage with such meaningful themes. Another good choice by the selection committee thank you.
