You would be amazed to learn just how much work is required to find 18 films good enough for the Fleet Film audience in time for the start of each season.   Our Selection team spend hours, days, weeks and months searching the highways and byways of the international film scene for worthy candidates.   Only last weekend, all four of our Selectors spent 3 whole days locked in dark cinemas in an obscure part of London with other film societies, poring over dull, tedious, interesting and (occasionally) great films

Here is an example of the kind of strange conundrum that presents itself to our Selection team from time to time....   We want to show the rather wonderful film "Loving Vincent" in our next season.    It's the story of Vincent Van Goghs death and the circumstances that led up to it, but the extraordinary thing is that it is entirely painted in oils, based solely on the paintings that Van Gogh himself created about his life.   It is entirely set in France, the costumes are French, the characters are French... even the music is French.   But it is actually a Polish film that was created in Poland by a team of international artists.  There is an English version and there is a French version and also a Polish version.   So do we show the English version or the French version (with subtitles) or the Polish version ?   That sound you are hearing is the scratching of heads....

This is the third iteration of our website and we hope you like it.   The intention was to make it easier to use, easier to maintain and a bit more informative.   If you agree, then please tell us so that we can brag about it.   If you can think of ways that it might be improved, please tell us so that we can see what can be done.    Thanks !
