Screening: 15th September 2025, 125 minutes

A young man believes he can fool his grandmother into leaving all her money to him, but he finds she's a much harder nut to crack than he thought. We loved this heartfelt journey with its insights into Thai family life.

Very interesting to explore how other cultures view elderly people and the rituals surrounding the deceased |

Not really a comedy - actually very moving. A young man learning to love his Grandma - really love her, not just as a potential source of inheritance. And learning that it's better to give than to receive. Also an interesting insight into traditional Thai Chinese culture - and the contrast with the modern way of life. |

I absolutely loved this far more than a comedy. I laughed and cried. Full of colour and 'life'. Loved the music throughout. |

Who said it was a comedy? Brilliant film about family, decline and death. 17 yr brother died suddenly of cancer last week - thank! |

Love wins in the end. But not a lot of laughs. Could have done with subtitles a bit higher. G. |

Poignant rather than a comedy but nevertheless an enjoyable and beautiful depiction of such a special relationship. Love the Green version! |

No way was this a comedy. Very sensitive subject showing the human greed has no boundaries and exists in every culture. Interesting film but touched a raw nerve. |

Hard to believe there is somewhere worse than the NHS for treatment! However I think they should adopt the shoe queue system at Frimley. I could not decide if this family even like each other let along love each other. I was appalled & disgusted it was about the money. A bitter sweet ending but a tragedy not a comedy! |

It was not a comedy as described! It was moving & gentle. However it was long & slow. I enjoyed it after all & loved the piano music which ran through the whole film & the denouement at the end about the bank account. |

I really enjoyed the window provided by the film into another culture and the visual appearance of a country I have not visited. It managed to be sensitive and sometimes dark yet amusing too, which is quite a feat. Against the dark background of grasping relatives waiting to inherit from the old grandma is the shining light of a genuine loving relationship that grows over the last few months of grandma’s life. The acting, especially grandma’s, was superb and there was beauty in her face and her grandson’s. Truly this was a rite of passage film about the lad - similar to the Yak in the Classroom film. |
