As a teacher myself, I loved this! If there are two things children need in life, it's hope and belief in themselves and this does not happen enough in British schools and colleges, although there are many brilliant teachers around. I hope Sir Martyn Oliver, Ofsted chief, is watching this! People always, always remember their best and worst teachers for their whole lives! |

Wow - I was a teacher & headteacher - left because of too much prescription & lack of respect for my knowledge. |

Fantastic film. As a teacher myself, I loved his innovative way of teaching & treating his class as equals. Very realistic - sad and funny parts. |

One of the best films of recent seasons' programme - a strong story, with a clear beginning, middle & end - good entertainment. |

Such a wonderful film and all the more so for being almost a mirror of what the real man and his pupils achieved. Brilliant! |

With a teacher like that I might have been Chancellor! (Rather than a book keeper.) |

Fantastic. The quest for knowledge never leaves us. Every day's a school day. |

A thoroughly enjoyable film showing what a positive effect a passionate teacher can have on his pupils, in this case through his creative teaching methods. The positive relationships that developed in the school when someone brought a “can-do” energy into the mix was a pleasure to see. I was struck by the imagery of the child that lived and survived on a rubbish dump; the ambition to fly high as an astronaut; the recognition of having to apply Utilitarian decision making to provide the best outcome to a family at the expense of the individual. This film was funny and thought provoking and not at all saccharine as some feel-good films can be. I was deeply shocked at the change of tone when the boy was killed. |

Surprised to realise it was a true story - not a seller for Mexican tourist board! Heartwarming, if somewhat enhanced? |

I thought the film was a fantastic watch - very inspiring. I found it particularly thought provoking as I'm currently doing a teaching course and teaching students. |

Incredibly engaging film. Seeing how a new approach to teaching in such a disadvantaged country can make Radical change. |

Joyous in parts but so sad. What a world we live in. Heartbroken for the girl who had to look after the baby. I wish he had kicked the hornet's nest. Highlighted the need for equality particularly women in today's world. |

Overwhelming in many ways. The positives were heart warming but the overall hardships & lack of choices for the children were heart breaking. So much to think about. |

Fabulous! Thought it was going to be unbearably sad but it ended on such an upbeat note. The redemption of a teacher, disregard the profession at your peril. |

Lovely film. Hopeful but realistic. The type of stories that cast reality in a hopeful light. Fostering a desire for all of us to be the best in whatever we do. |

Excellent! A film which asked an important question - how can children brought up amidst poverty, violence & corruption rise above it all and follow their dreams / realise their potential? Inspiring and moving. |

A bit melodramatic but a good film nonetheless. Reminded me of the ideals of teacher training vs. how a school actually expects you to teach... |

Good story. Spoiled by the over 'cheesy' acting scenes and very annoying score. |
