Hard watch about a society that has a long way to go.

Different. Moving. At least it wasn't about death!
5
An astonishingly powerful and brave trail, but also depressing. Did anything change?

Am in awe of her bravery and drive... and grieve for aspects of Japanese society.

Powerful testimony. Shocking to learn how corrupt the Police were.

Incredible film bearing witness to an important event - well told, captured audience, brave and should be seen by everyone.
5
Not sure I can rate it, but it was an important watch and I hope Japanese society reviews how it treats rape and women in general.
5
Raw, open, eye opening, awkward, superb strength from the victim. Very well caught on camera.

It was totally engrossing. I found it hard to imagine how she would have been documenting her reactions for so long but it was a good thing that she did. I can't help but wonder how she would have got on without the other witness statements.
5
A brave and very important film - and a very moving one. It reflects the reality for victims of sexual violence, not just in Japan, but in so many parts of the world. It would be nice to think that things will change but I'm not too sure about that.

Made me think.

Great insight into the power imbalance & culture of Japan. Documentary style filled hell.
4
A well told film. So sad that probably nothing much will change in Japanese society and more women will suffer. No punishment for the perpetrator, sadly.
4
Whatever happened will never be known, but the apparent attempts to suppress it - or at least make it so difficult - was unforgivable. A very strong young woman.

I was sceptical for the first 15 minutes but then I got it!
4
Gripping film. Tragic subject - good that she kept her nerve & won. BUT how has the system changed?
4
A story that needed telling but too long and I hated the moving? film.
4
A bit long drawn-out but interesting on modern Japan. Lovely clear subtitles!
4
Powerful film, such a brave, determined woman. Well worth watching.
4
A very determined & brave young lady. I wonder if Japan's laws will change?
4
A very brave project! Harrowing to watch. Disturbing insight into social attitudes towards women in Japan.
4
Brave girl. Great outcome. Any chance the subtitles can be at the top of the screen?
4
Difficult subject in conservative Japanese society. Brave women. Break the mould to change the law.
4
A superb socially relevant documentary but a slow and difficult watch.
4
Thought provoking and amazing the resilience of the brave young lady. Difficult to watch at times. But it shows the way Japan still operates.

Sad, a brave girl.

8 years for justice, certainly is a powerful man's world!

I really wanted to love this film, but it failed to give enough context or background to understand just how dire the situation around violence against women and girls is in Japan. Without that grounding, it felt deeply moving but frustratingly incomplete.
